I didn't realize that the hooks that go into your ears are plastic, till I got them in the mail. The hooks are thicker than I am used to with metal hooks and difficult to get in my ears and they appear to the flimsy as if they might easily break at some point.

Store owner replied: All of our earrings are made with plastic posts so that people with sensitive ears can wear them without irritation. Plastic posts are slightly thicker than metal ones and may require an adjustment period if you have tiny holes or haven't worn earrings for a while. What are the posts and hooks made of?

Posts and hooks are made from polycarbonate plastic, and the backs are a soft plastic called TPE. Some earring fronts include metal, but nothing metal touches your ear.

Do the dangles need backs?

No. The curved hooks stay in on their own, so backs aren’t needed or included.

Why do the studs come with two backs?

You get two sizes so you can pick the fit you like, plus a spare in case one goes missing.

Are they OK for new piercings?

They’re made for healed piercings only.

Can I sleep in them?

We don’t recommend it. Sleeping in them puts pressure on the glue, which can loosen the backs or pop a post off.

Will the stud posts feel thick?

Stud posts are a little thicker than dangle hooks. If your piercings are small or you haven’t worn earrings in a while, they may feel snug at first. Wearing them a few hours a day usually fixes that within a few days.
