I have a Glowforge it is a CO2 Laser. I make earrings and a lot of my ladies have metal allergies, I usually use titanium or niobium ear wires. I’ve always had sensitivity to metals, especially in my earlobes. The only discomfort I had wearing these was that I’m not used to being able to wear them! No swelling.
