Store owner replied: Plastic posts are slightly thicker than metal ones. This may cause some initial temporary discomfort for people that have tiny ear piercings or if you haven’t worn earrings for a while. If you can wear the earrings for a few days, even if it's just for 20 minutes a day, while there could be some initial temporary discomfort during the transition period, there is not usually further irritation. I got these earrings as a surprise for my 9 year old daughter's birthday. She got earrings from Claire's about a year ago and her holes closed up. She loves these earrings though! Not only can she wear them, but they're so cute! I ended up getting the watermelon and horseshoe earrings for her as well! If you're looking for earrings, hypoallergenic or not, Earrings by Emma is the best!

first off, the corgi earrings are adorable. Secondly, my daughter has had incessant issues with her ears NEVER healing until we switched to these earrings. it was like a miracle. The corgi earrings were her favorite, which brings my to my 3rd reason why I love this company: the customer service is fantastic. Our corgi earrings broke unfortunately, but the company handled it great and replaced our pair. I very much appreciate that. Highly recommend earrings by Emma and these adorable corgi earrings!

Good to Know

What are the posts and hooks made of?

Posts and hooks are made from polycarbonate plastic, and the backs are a soft plastic called TPE. Some earring fronts include metal, but nothing metal touches your ear.

Do the dangles need backs?

No. The curved hooks stay in on their own, so backs aren’t needed or included.

Why do the studs come with two backs?

You get two sizes so you can pick the fit you like, plus a spare in case one goes missing.

Are they OK for new piercings?

They’re made for healed piercings only.

Can I sleep in them?

We don’t recommend it. Sleeping in them puts pressure on the glue, which can loosen the backs or pop a post off.

Will the stud posts feel thick?

Stud posts are a little thicker than dangle hooks. If your piercings are small or you haven’t worn earrings in a while, they may feel snug at first. Wearing them a few hours a day usually fixes that within a few days.
