I cannot get enough of these plastic posts & hooks!!! I have now swapped out all of my metal dangly earrings to plastic hooks. So now I can finally enjoy all of the earrings I’ve had for many years that I was unable to wear.

The most common reason someone might have an issue with plastic is more the thicker size of the post than the plastic material itself. This is usually just the case for people that have tiny ear piercings or if you haven’t worn earrings for a while. If you can wear the earrings for a few days, even if it's just for 20 minutes a day, while there could be some initial temporary discomfort during the transition period, there is not usually further irritation. If you don't want to deal with the transition period, you are welcome to email us about our refund policy.
I haven't been able to really wear earrings with hooks in a long time. So, I took the first opportunity to wear them as soon as they showed up. This was the test for my trying Earrings by Emma.
They were great!! My ears weren't bothered and I didn't have to treat any swelling or blood from the piercing hole. I'm trying another pair today and so far they feel great. I'll be spreading the word!!
I bought these for a friend that can’t wear any other earrings without her ears getting infected and painful. Although these have irritated her ears a little at first but she’s been able to wear them daily and her ears are doing better!

You are right in that plastic posts are slightly thickre than metal ones. This can cause some initial discomfort usually just in the case where people have tiny ear piercings or haven't worn earrings in quite some time. If you can wear the earrings for a few days, while there could be some initial temporary discomfort, there is not usually further irritation. If that doesn't appeal to you, email us about our warranty.

We actually recommend that you remove the earrings for sleeping, showering, and swimming since it can increase the chance for bending the posts and loosening the backs. It also voids our warranty.
The dangling paw prints are the perfect size, light, and comfortable to wear. I snagged them because they came in my kids school colors and are great for showing their team spirit. They arrive quickly and are always packaged nicely.
I've bought several pairs of earrings from Earrings By Emma now, and these were great, just as I expected! These are the only earrings that my daughter can wear without having issues, and she's so excited to finally have dangling earrings that don't hurt her ears. Great for spirit days at school for my Wildcat!
Posts and hooks are made from polycarbonate plastic, and the backs are a soft plastic called TPE. Some earring fronts include metal, but nothing metal touches your ear.
Do the dangles need backs?
No. The curved hooks stay in on their own, so backs aren’t needed or included.
Why do the studs come with two backs?
You get two sizes so you can pick the fit you like, plus a spare in case one goes missing.
Are they OK for new piercings?
They’re made for healed piercings only.
Can I sleep in them?
We don’t recommend it. Sleeping in them puts pressure on the glue, which can loosen the backs or pop a post off.
Will the stud posts feel thick?
Stud posts are a little thicker than dangle hooks. If your piercings are small or you haven’t worn earrings in a while, they may feel snug at first. Wearing them a few hours a day usually fixes that within a few days.
